Shallow Pocket Tips:

We have all heard the commercials telling us how much food (and money) we throw away along with recommendations for storing extra food-both homemade and purchased- in the freezer. But how long can these items be stored in the freezer without fear ot spoiling. Here are some guidelines for frozen food storage.

Bacon and sausage- 2 months
Casseroles-3 months
Egg whites or egg substitutes- 12 months
Frozen dinners/entrees- 4 months
Gravy, meat or poultry- 3 months
Ham, lunchmeat and hotdogs- 2 months
Meat & uncooked roast- 12 months
Ground meat, uncooked- 4 months
Cooked meat- 3 months
Whole uncooked poultry- 12 months
Poultry parts, uncooked- 9 months
Cooked poultry- 4 months
Soups, stews- 3 months

So, take advantage of the sales at the grocery store, then be sure you use a permanent marker to label the packages before freezing so you can make the most of your grocery coupons and food savings! After all, it's not saving if the food spoils before you have used it!

If you would like to share some of you favorite tips for saving money on household products, easy and inexpensive meals, ways to make household jobs easier and much more with us, you can post them to our Facebook page. We look forward to hearing from you!

Cutting the cord, or discontinuing your cable, can be a great thing because it’s a huge money saver. If you have cable, you’re often paying for hundreds, or even thousands, of channels you aren’t watching.
